Job description

The Digital Trade Director is responsible for leading the end-to-end digital trading strategy for the e-commerce business across the EU, NA, and APAC regions. This role owns the commercial trading agenda - driving revenue, margin, and conversion through strategic trading plans, promotional campaigns, pricing decisions, and product range management. The Digital Trade Director works cross-functionally to ensure the e-commerce channel consistently delivers on its commercial targets and is positioned to maximise trading performance.

Responsibilities:

Trading Strategy & Planning: Define and own the annual and seasonal digital trading strategy, setting clear commercial targets and trading plans aligned with overall e-commerce and business objectives across all regions.

Revenue & Margin Ownership: Take full accountability for the e-commerce P&L trading performance, including revenue, margin return rate, and conversion rate. Identify opportunities to grow topline and protect margin through disciplined commercial decision-making.

Promotional Planning & Execution: Lead the development and execution of the promotional calendar, including sales events, markdowns, and campaign-driven trading activity, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and brand alignment.

Pricing & Markdown Management: Facilitate digital pricing strategy and markdown cadence across categories and regions, balancing sell-through targets with margin protection and competitive positioning.

Range & Category Management: Partner with buying and merchandising teams to shape the online product range, ensuring the right product is available at the right time and price to maximise trade performance.

Trading Reporting & Analysis: Drive a data-led trading culture by owning weekly, monthly, and seasonal trading reviews. Translate performance insights into clear actions and recommendations for the business.

Forecasting & Target Setting: Lead the commercial forecasting process for digital trade, working with finance and planning teams to set realistic yet ambitious revenue and margin targets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary commercial voice of the e-commerce channel, working closely with marketing, content, buying, and finance teams to ensure trading plans are well-supported and fully activated.

Competitive Intelligence: Monitor competitor trading activity, market trends, and industry developments to ensure POC’s digital trading approach remains sharp and commercially differentiated.

Team Leadership: Lead and develop the trading team, building a high-performance culture with clear goals, regular feedback, and strong commercial capability.

Executive Reporting: Provide senior leadership and the CDO with clear, insight-led trading updates, highlighting performance vs. plan and strategic recommendations.

  • Excellent cross-functional influencing and communication skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around a clear trading agenda.
  • Experience managing and developing a team in a commercial trading function.
