Job summary

ALTEN Sweden is seeking a Data Engineer with strong Databricks, cloud platforms, and modern data engineering to join a long-term assignment. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-based solutions for Swedish and international clients.

You’ll collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, ensure data governance and GDPR compliance, and contribute to data architectures across industries such as

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong SQL skills with advanced querying and optimization.
• Hands-on Databricks experience with Delta Lake, Spark, and cluster management.
• Multi-cloud proficiency in AWS, Azure, or GCP; certifications a plus.
• Programming experience in Python, Scala, or PySpark for data processing.
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, and Snowflake.
• Data modeling knowledge including dimensional modeling, star schema, and warehouse design.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and manage data pipelines collecting, transforming, and delivering data to cloud or hybrid storage.
• Ensure data accessibility, reliability and performance for analytics and decision making.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role focuses on designing, building, and managing data pipelines that efficiently collect, transform, and deliver data from various sources to cloud-based or hybrid storage solutions. The professional ensures that data remains accessible, reliable, and optimized for analysis and business decision-making. A significant aspect of the role involves working with large-scale data processing frameworks to support analytics and machine learning initiatives. Strong SQL expertise is essential for writing and refining queries to guarantee high performance and data accuracy in client projects.

The position also emphasizes collaboration, as the individual will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions that drive actionable insights. Additionally, the role includes implementing data governance practices to ensure compliance with Swedish and EU regulations, such as GDPR, while maintaining robust data security and metadata management.

• Experience: 5+ years as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• SQL: Strong skills in advanced querying, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Databricks: Hands-on experience with Delta Lake, Spark, and cluster management.
• Multi-Cloud: Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or GCP (certifications are a plus).
• Programming: Experience with Python, Scala, or PySpark for data processing.
• Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with Hadoop, Kafka, or Snowflake.
• Data Modeling: Knowledge of dimensional modeling, star schema, and warehouse design.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with MLOps or deploying machine learning models.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).
• Familiarity with Swedish business culture and regulations.
