Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Cost Control Specialist to support a major industrial transformation program in Northern Sweden. You will be a key member of Project Controls, ensuring robust cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial performance across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include leading cost control activities, maintaining CBS and control accounts, monitoring costs and forecasts, and producing weekly/monthly reports.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
• Proven cost control on major capital projects.
• Experience in heavy industry, infrastructure, energy, mining, metals, oil & gas, or EPC environments.
• Strong forecasting, budgeting, and cost management understanding.
• Excellent analytical and stakeholder management abilities.

• Monitor actual costs, commitments, accruals and forecasts.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports.
• Track and analyse cost variances, trends, risks and opportunities.
• Support change management processes and assess the cost impact of variations.
• Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Finance teams.
• Develop and maintain cost forecasting models and cash flow projections.
• Monitor project contingency usage and provide recommendations to management.
• Ensure cost data accuracy and consistency across all reporting systems.
• Support project reviews and provide commercial insights to support decision-making.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls processes and reporting tools.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cost Control Specialist to support the delivery of a major industrial transformation program in Northern Sweden. This flagship project forms part of one of Europe's most significant sustainability and energy transition initiatives and will involve the development of large-scale industrial facilities and associated infrastructure.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a critical role within the Project Controls function, ensuring robust cost management, forecasting, reporting, and financial performance across the project lifecycle.

• Establish and maintain project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and control accounts.
• Monitor actual costs, commitments, accruals and forecasts.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier is essential.
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance or a related discipline.
• Experience in Cost Control on major capital projects.
• Experience within heavy industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mining, metals, oil & gas, or EPC project environments.
• Strong understanding of project controls methodologies, forecasting, budgeting and cost management.
• Experience managing large project budgets and complex stakeholder environments.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience on steel, industrial processing, manufacturing or energy transition projects.
• Previous experience working in Scandinavia or across European project environments.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Experience with Primavera P6 and integrated project controls systems.
• Familiarity with large multidisciplinary EPC projects.
