Job summary

SilverBack is recruiting for an experienced Cost Engineer to support a major heavy industrial construction project in Northern Sweden. The role focuses on cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting to ensure project alignment with budget.

You will monitor costs across work packages, produce cash flow analyses, and analyse variances while collaborating with Project Controls, Planning, Procurement, Commercial, and Finance teams to deliver reliable cost visibility and timely

Qualifications

• Experience in cost forecasting, budgeting, cash flow and cost reporting.
• Familiarity with change management, earned value, and project cost control methodologies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; exposure to SAP, EcoSys, Power BI, Oracle or Prism is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review contractor cost reports, payment applications, and change requests.

Overview

SilverBack is recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Cost Engineer to support a major heavy industrial construction project in Northern Sweden.

The role focuses on cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting across large construction packages, ensuring accurate cost visibility and supporting project teams in delivering the project within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control project costs across multiple work packages.
• Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, budgets, and cash flow analyses.
• Track cost performance and analyse variances against approved budgets.
• Review contractor cost reports, payment applications, and change requests.
• Support change management and evaluate the cost impact of project variations.
• Work closely with Project Controls, Planning, Procurement, Commercial, and Finance teams.
• Produce regular cost reporting and performance analysis for project leadership.
• Identify cost risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation strategies where required.
• Maintain accurate cost control systems and project financial records.

What We\'re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Cost Engineer, Cost Controller, Project Controls Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong experience on large-scale industrial, EPC, EPCM, infrastructure, energy, mining, manufacturing, or data centre projects.
• Proven experience with cost forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and cost reporting.
• Good understanding of change management, earned value principles, and project cost control methodologies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with SAP, EcoSys, Power BI, Oracle, Prism, or similar cost management tools is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• EU work authorisation preferred.
