Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking an Interim HR Manager to lead a busy HR function in Cambridge. You will manage a team of four HR professionals, provide expert guidance on UK employment law, and ensure compliant HR operations across the employee lifecycle.

The role focuses on delivering operational excellence, handling complex ER matters, and updating policies and procedures while supporting change initiatives. Immediate start for an interim approx. four months with pro rata salary.

Qualifications

• CIPD Level 7 or significant equivalent senior HR generalist experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Proven experience managing complex employee relations casework.
• Strong experience reviewing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
• Involvement in HR systems implementation projects, ideally with IRIS Cascade.
• Experience in higher education, charity, public sector or governance-led environments is advantageous.
• Calm, pragmatic and highly professional with discretion and confidentiality.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day HR function and HR team.
• Provide expert guidance on UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Manage employee relations casework including disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.
• Review, update and maintain HR policies and procedures for ongoing compliance.
• Support organisational projects and change initiatives as required.
• Contribute to HR systems development and IRIS Cascade improvements.
• Produce management information and reports to aid decision-making.
• Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation.
