Job summary

Proxify, headquartered in Stockholm, is expanding its AI-enabled consulting practice. We are seeking a senior technical and consultative counterpart to drive pre-sales with clients, understand business challenges, and translate opportunities into clearly scoped AI projects.

You will own the journey from discovery to proposal, collaborate with our commercial team, and hand over to Forward Deployed AI Engineers for implementation. Occasional client site visits are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, solutions architecture or technical consulting.
• Hands-on experience building or designing LLM-powered applications, RAG pipelines, AI agents and automation.
• Outstanding client-facing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Experience translating ambiguous business problems into technical solutions, project scopes, estimates and proposals.
• Business and commercial judgment to assess value, balance complexity and avoid overengineering.
• Systems thinking across architectures, data environments, integrations and constraints.
• Fluent professional English for communicating to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ownership and autonomy to manage multiple opportunities in parallel.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Stockholm, Proxify helps 2,500+ companies worldwide scale their technical teams. We're now expanding beyond providing individual engineers to helping clients identify, build, and deploy valuable AI-powered solutions.

The challenge

Companies know AI can transform how they operate, but often struggle to identify where it creates real value and how to turn an opportunity into a working solution.

That's where you come in.

You'll be the senior technical and consultative counterpart in our client conversations. Working closely with our commercial team, you'll understand clients' business challenges, identify where AI agents and automation can make a meaningful difference, and turn promising opportunities into clearly scoped projects.

You'll own the journey from initial discovery through solution design, estimation, and proposal delivery, helping clients understand what's feasible and what it takes to succeed.

Once a project is agreed upon, you'll hand over to a Forward Deployed AI Engineer (FDE), who owns implementation and may lead additional engineers from the Proxify network. You'll remain involved when important technical or commercial decisions require your input, but you won't be responsible for day-to-day development.

What you'll do

• Lead technical pre-sales and discovery: Work directly with prospective clients to understand their business processes, existing systems, data, and challenges.
• Identify AI opportunities: Find high-value use cases for AI agents and automation, and recognize when conventional software or simpler solutions are more appropriate.
• Design solutions: Develop credible high-level architectures, identify integrations and technical dependencies, and assess feasibility, security, and operational requirements.
• Scope and estimate projects: Translate opportunities into actionable project briefs with clear deliverables, assumptions, technical requirements, success criteria, and realistic effort estimates.
• Support winning deals: Work closely with the commercial team on proposals, solution presentations, technical objections, and client conversations.
• Enable successful delivery: Validate feasibility with engineering before commitments are made, and hand over projects effectively to our FDEs, who own the technical implementation.
• Improve our offering: Help develop repeatable approaches, reusable solution patterns, and best practices as we scale our AI solutions business.
• Occasional client site visits.

Must-have

• Strong technical background: 5+ years in software engineering, solutions architecture, technical consulting, or a similar role, with enough technical depth to design and scope real-world systems.
• Practical AI expertise: Hands-on experience building or designing LLM-powered applications, RAG pipelines, AI agents, and workflow automations. You understand what these technologies can and cannot reliably do.
• Outstanding client-facing skills: You can confidently lead conversations with senior stakeholders, uncover underlying business needs, build trust, challenge assumptions, and manage expectations.
• Technical pre-sales and solution design: Experience translating ambiguous business problems into technical solutions, project scopes, estimates, and proposals.
• Business and commercial judgment: You understand how to assess expected value, prioritize opportunities, balance solution complexity against business impact, and avoid overengineering.
• Systems thinking: Comfortable understanding unfamiliar architectures, data environments, integrations, and technical constraints.
• Strong communication: Fluent professional English and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ownership and autonomy: Comfortable running several opportunities in parallel, independently driving progress, and collaborating with commercial and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in a solutions architect, solutions engineer, technical pre-sales, or client-facing consulting role.
• Experience delivering production AI solutions for external clients.
• Experience designing or building AI prototypes to demonstrate feasibility and support sales.
• Experience estimating and scoping software projects delivered by other engineers.
• Experience in a startup or scale-up, where priorities shift quickly and processes are still being established.
