Job Description

Candidate with 4 to 8 years of experience in FCAW welding in 2G/3G/OH positions in the heavy fabrication industry. Prior experience with GMAW/SMAW is an advantage. The candidate is expected to perform with minimal supervision and strict adherence to welding quality and safety standards.

Job Summary

• Minimum 4–8 years of experience in various welding processes.
• Ability to read blueprints/drawings and interpret welding requirements.
• Ability to produce PJP, CJP & 6G quality welds on carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steels.
• Proficient in FCAW and GMAW processes on piping and structural steels.
• Directly reports to welding supervisor or welding engineer.

Primary Responsibilities

• Read welding procedures and understand welding process.
• Weld primary joints of structural items and piping per WPS, qualified to AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX.
• Attend weld repairs as per procedure.
• Implement distortion control measures during welding activity.
• Grind, clean and dress up workpieces and welds.
• Use various gauges and measuring instruments.
• Maintain a clean workplace and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma with 6 years of experience, ITI or diploma.
• Welder performance qualification certificates in FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SMAW.
• Additional qualifications are an advantage.

Key Competencies & Skills

• Sound technical knowledge of welding and gouging processes.
• Ability to qualify for third‑party welding qualification tests in 6G (All) position.
• Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
• Knowledge of tools required for welding and gouging.
• Expertise in welding machine setup, shielding gas handling and consumable control.
• Good communication skills.
