Overview

Job Title: System Engineer – Crude Oil Metering Systems

Location: Saudi Arabia (Oil & Gas / Onshore & Offshore Facilities)

Industry: Oil & Gas – Crude Oil Metering & Measurement Systems

The System Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of crude oil metering and associated control systems to ensure accurate measurement, system reliability, and compliance with international and Saudi Aramco standards. The role involves close coordination with operations, instrumentation, automation, and compliance teams to support custody transfer and process integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of crude oil metering systems including flow computers, analyzers, PLCs, RTUs, and associated instrumentation.
  • Ensure accurate custody transfer measurement in compliance with API, ISO, OIML, and Saudi Aramco standards.
  • Perform system configuration, validation, calibration support, and troubleshooting of metering and control systems.
  • Analyze system performance, diagnose faults, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with field instrumentation, automation, and maintenance teams during system upgrades, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
  • Review metering data, reconcile discrepancies, and support audit and inspection activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation, system backups, change management, and configuration control are maintained.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning of new or modified metering systems.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies, operational procedures, and company-specific engineering standards.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and clients for technical support, system enhancements, and compliance requirements.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in crude oil metering systems within Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Proven experience working in Saudi Arabia or GCC oil & gas projects is highly preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Crude Oil Metering Systems (Custody Transfer & Allocation).
  • Hands-on experience with Flow Computers (e.g., Emerson, Schneider, Honeywell, ABB, Yokogawa).
  • Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, and RTU systems.
  • Familiarity with API MPMS standards, ISO standards, and Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES).
  • Understanding of flow measurement technologies such as Ultrasonic, Coriolis, Turbine, and PD meters.
  • Experience in system integration, data validation, and communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, TCP/IP).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and system architecture drawings.
