KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational Leadership
- Align and Motivate teams to achieve a singular goal – Mining safe volumes to Budget.
- Lead daily mining operations.
- Ensure alignment with short-term and long-term mine plans.
- Supervise and support Mining Supervisors and Blasting team.
- Review and recommend change to policies, processes, and procedures while ensuring compliance and consistent behaviour across all function of the operation.
- Embrace and promote Maaden Safety Culture Transformation Program.

- Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of mining and blasting activities.
- Monitor compliance to operational contracts under mining and blasting
- Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with Mine Planning and Engineering teams to optimise production schedules and ensure practicality.
- Review and approve drill and blast designs and ensure timely execution.
- Ensure mine compliance to plan.
- Team Management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct reports.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Identify training needs and support workforce development.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for mining and blasting operations.
- Analyse operational data to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead blast optimisation for continues improvement and implementing best practices.
- Prepare weekly, and monthly reports.
- Review daily reports for errors.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Officially recognised competency in Explosives and Blasting Certification.
- Minimum 10 years of experience (5 years practical experience in specific field) in open-pit mining operations, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Excellent understanding of the mining industry, industry practices, regulations and technical advancements.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of mining operation and mine planning for large scale open pit operations.
- A proven history in delivering results to schedule and budget while having demonstrated a proactive commitment to a safe working environment.
- Experience working in multicultural environment.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks.
