Job summary

Lucid Motors in Saudi Arabia seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for E-Motor and Inverter assemblies. You will own design intent, lead root-cause analyses, and collaborate with manufacturing to resolve issues while ensuring validation and compliance with design goals.

You will drive product changes, support high-volume production ramps, and contribute to risk assessment and test specification activities within a cross-functional team.

Position Overview

Sr. Mechanical Engineer, E-Motor/ Inverter is responsible for design intent assembly requirements of E-Motor, Inverter Assemblies, & associated test specifications. Responsible for root cause analysis of product issues, interim containment action development/verification/implementation, & permanent corrective action development/verification/implementation where applicable with close collaboration with core engineering to ensure design intent & validation requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Manufacturing cross-functional teams to champion pending product issues/test specification related issues to resolution
• Solve complex component/system level product or multi-variable issues using standard problem-solving techniques pertaining to E-Motor & Inverter assemblies
• Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high volume production or known product design issues in production in close collaboration with cross-functional teams where appropriate
• Responsible for design intent assembly requirements for E-Motor/Inverter assembly & associated enforcement on the line in close collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Responsible for product level risk assessments due to un-intended process, equipment, & part deviations
• Product engineering representative in the plant for E-Motor & Inverter Mechanical subsystems
• Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues
• Support new product launches, execute part concession deviations for E-Motor & Inverter assembl ies in the manufacturing plant without compromising design intent of the product
• Support high volume production ramp activities pertaining to product engineering
• Advice on build process development and possible improvements for high volume production lines to ensure variation in process within acceptable tolerance limits of design intent

Skills

• Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques
• Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB
• Prior experience working in resident product engineering roles in the plant
• Prior experience with E-Motor Assemblies, Inverter assemblies, & associated troubleshooting
• Technical depth in electric motor gearbox assemblies (Castings, Oil cooling systems, Planetary gear trains, static/dynamic seals, stator, rotors, half-shafts, & Inverter Power Electronics HW Interface) & associated troubleshooting is required
• Experience in product development or improvement of E-Motor/Inverter Assemblies
• Experience in using DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, & RCA with cross-functional teams
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
• Requires proficiency in Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, JMP etc.,)
• Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification.
• Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals.
• Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 8+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes or master’s degree in mechanical or automotive disciplines with 6+ years of automotive experience in design & release of vehicle attributes
• Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques
• Prior experience working in resident product engineering roles in the plant
• Prior experience with E-Motor Assemblies, Inverter assemblies, & associated troubleshooting
