JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
The position holder is responsible for collaborating with authorized inspection contractors to provide superior inspection services and certifications related to mechanical items. This role is essential for the comprehensive assessment of our physical assets, and asset fitness certification which involves meticulous analysis and evaluation of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure. The objective is to certify that our equipment complies with industry operating standards, operates without functional issues, identifies potential functional and safety concerns at an early stage, and recommends appropriate corrective actions. The main responsibility is to effectively facilitate the safe and efficient functioning of mechanical systems and equipment at our Ras Al Khair site. The role will collaborate with the inspection contractor to assess, test, and evaluate mechanical components and systems, ensuring adherence to the standards, regulations, and safety protocols set forth by International Maritime Industries.
Key Accountabilities
- Demonstrate a robust capability to collaborate with Mechanical Inspection Contractors, interpret inspection reports, and identify as well as address discrepancies, which is essential for the approval of inspection results.
- Engage in and make constructive contributions to field mechanical inspections, as well as the periodic assessment and certification schedule for inspections.
- Ensure the implementation and completion of established inspection strategies, procedures, standards, and plans, while providing feedback to the Asset Inspection Manager regarding any failures, variations, or amendments.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for Asset Inspection that are pertinent to tracking and effectively managing the comprehensive inspection process.
- Review and improve the performance status of equipment in relation to the KPIs of mechanical inspection programs at facilities, based on preventive maintenance programs, inspection routines, strategies, and prior asset inspection results.
- Oversee and manage the implementation and effectiveness of mechanical asset inspections at facilities, in collaboration with inspection contractors.
- Engage with pertinent internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient planning, ensuring the seamless execution of inspection activities with minimal or no delays in milestones, adherence to budget constraints, and the safety of personnel in accordance with company standards.
- Contribute actively to the formulation and enhancement of recommendations and reports aimed at improving the deployment and performance of mechanical inspection programs, as well as refining inspection procedures and best practices.
- Manage the execution of mechanical asset inspection work scope ensuring there are no milestone sleeps or extra cost to company and ensuring proper housekeeping after every asset inspection event in compliance with safety requirements
- Interpret, comprehend, and adapt OEM-recommended inspection strategies to align with operational conditions.
- Provide support to the Asset Inspection Manager in the development of tailored inspection strategy frequencies for unique equipment.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
- Must have certification in at least one of the following API accreditations: API-510, API-570.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 or CWI/AWS) is a plus.
Experience
- At least 6-9 years of experience in related field.
