Perform and support advanced piping welding operations in close coordination with Chargehands, Foremen, and the project team, to ensure all assigned tasks are executed safely, on time, in full compliance with the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS) and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Execute all assigned piping welding tasks safely and within the specified timeframes to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform all types of pipe butt welding and sleeve welding in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Select appropriate welding equipment and methods based on material type, joint configuration, and project requirements.
- Interpret welding symbols and technical drawings accurately to ensure correct execution of welding tasks.
- Verify the validity of work permits (Hot, Cold, Isolation, etc.) before commencing any welding activity.
- Attend daily toolbox talks and safety briefings, and identify potential risks associated with assigned tasks.
- Demonstrate full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) policies and procedures throughout all work activities.
Qualifications
- Highschool or Technical Diploma or equivalent qualification
- At least 8 years’ experience
- 6G (45degree pipe) Welding cert.
- Familiar with the common ship materials and components
- Skilled in using hand and portable welding (FCAW/SMAW/GTAW) tools.
- Basic knowledge of tolerances.
- Awareness of workplace hazards (fire, sparks, falling materials).
- Attention to detail (to avoid mistakes and wastage).
- Teamwork – working with chargehands and crane operators.
- Time management – completing assigned cuts within shift targets.
- Communication – reporting problems or unsafe conditions quickly.
- Willingness to learn – improving cutting techniques or adapting to new tools
- Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language
