The Senior Structural Engineer provides discipline‑specific structural engineering support to the project, ensuring structural works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Reporting to the Design Manager and working under the direction of Technical Coordinators, the role is responsible for reviewing structural shop drawings and materials, supporting as‑built documentation, responding to RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), and carrying out site inspections and technical reporting related to structural works.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
Site & Construction Support (Structural)
- Provide day‑to‑day structural engineering support on site, addressing construction queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
- Review structural works on site to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, mock‑ups, and samples.
- Identify structural site issues, deviations, or non‑conformances and support their resolution in coordination with the Design Manager and Technical Coordinators.
- Coordinate structural activities with architectural MEPF, façade, and fit‑out works to avoid clashes and execution conflicts.
- Support snagging, inspections, and quality reviews of structural works and finishes.
Shop Drawings, Submittals & As‑Built Support
- Review structural shop drawings, material submittals, samples, and method statements for compliance with approved design intent and specifications.
- Provide clear technical comments to support timely approvals and construction progress.
- Verify that approved shop drawings and materials are correctly implemented on site.
- Support the preparation, review, and validation of structural as‑built drawings and records.
- Assist Technical Coordinators in tracking structural submittals and closing out review comments.
Technical Queries, RFIs & NCR Management
- Prepare and support responses to RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and site clarifications related to structural works.
- Assist in the investigation, reporting, and close‑out of structural NCRs, observations, and quality issues.
- Propose practical structural solutions to site issues for review and approval by the Design Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of technical responses and site‑related decisions in accordance with project procedures.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers on structural matters.
- Attend site coordination meetings and progress reviews as required.
- Ensure structural technical information is clearly communicated through approved project workflows.
- Contribute to lessons learned related to structural detailing, constructability, and site execution.
- Support mentoring and technical guidance of junior engineers and site staff.
- Promote best practices in structural construction quality and execution.
Job Specifications

Necessary Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 10–12 years of relevant engineering experience within design, construction, or Design & Build project environments.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering deliverables, including design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
- Sound working knowledge of building systems and discipline interfaces (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical).
- ‘Proficient’ in technical documentation, review workflows, and engineering coordination processes.
- Strong professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
Education and Certification Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Professional or engineering certification/licensing is an advantage but not mandatory.
Job Specific and Technical Skills
- Proficient in engineering and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination tools).
- Strong understanding of design coordination, constructability, and design‑to‑construction workflows.
- Ability to manage technical logs, trackers, and document control systems within a CDE environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and technical accuracy.
