The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading, coordinating, and monitoring engineering and construction activities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful execution in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, quality requirements, contractual obligations, HSE requirements, and client expectations.

The role provides technical and engineering leadership across multiple disciplines and work fronts, coordinating closely with Project Management, Construction, Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Procurement, Commercial, Survey, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager and Engineering Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing project engineering and construction activities.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across multiple work fronts and project phases.
- Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project schedules, contractual requirements, and applicable standards.
- Review and coordinate engineering drawings, shop drawings, design documents, specifications, calculations, material submittals, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to Project Engineers, Site Engineers, junior engineers, and construction teams.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to identify and resolve design conflicts, technical discrepancies, constructability issues, and site constraints.
- Review construction methodologies and provide technical recommendations to improve constructability, productivity, quality, and project execution.
- Monitor engineering and construction progress against the approved project schedule and ensure critical activities remain aligned with project milestones.
- Coordinate closely with Construction Managers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors, and specialist contractors to ensure efficient execution of works.
- Review, monitor, and follow up on RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, technical queries, and engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients to obtain timely approvals and resolve technical comments and outstanding engineering issues.
- Lead and participate in technical coordination meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Review consultant and client comments and ensure appropriate responses, revisions, and corrective actions are completed within agreed timelines.
- Monitor subcontractor engineering and construction performance and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure construction activities comply with approved inspection and test plans, quality procedures, specifications, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with HSE to ensure engineering and construction activities are planned and executed in accordance with project HSE requirements and safe construction practices.
- Identify engineering, construction, interface, schedule, and technical risks and support the implementation of appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Commercial, Planning, Logistics, and other relevant departments to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, technical information, and resources.
- Monitor engineering deliverables, material requirements, manpower, equipment, and construction resources required for successful project execution.
- Review project schedules and provide technical and engineering input regarding activity durations, dependencies, priorities, constraints, and critical activities.
- Monitor progress of engineering and construction activities and provide accurate input for weekly and monthly project progress reports.
- Coordinate with the Land Surveying team regarding setting-out, benchmarks, levels, coordinates, dimensions, and site technical requirements.
- Ensure required inspections, testing, approvals, surveys, and technical documentation are completed before commencement of subsequent construction activities.
- Monitor technical interfaces between civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, infrastructure, and other relevant disciplines as applicable to the project.
- Review construction drawings and site conditions to identify potential clashes, discrepancies, constructability concerns, and interface issues before execution.
- Support the implementation and closure of technical, engineering, construction, and coordination actions arising from site inspections, meetings, audits, and project reviews.
- Conduct regular site inspections and technical walks to verify that works are progressing in accordance with approved engineering requirements.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding technical, engineering, construction, and interface issues through to satisfactory closure.
- Support the Project Manager in project planning, technical coordination, construction execution, problem-solving, and project decision-making.
- Participate in project progress meetings, technical meetings, coordination meetings, site inspections, quality walks, and client/consultant meetings.
- Support value engineering, constructability reviews, technical optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
- Assist in monitoring project performance against approved scope, schedule, quality, cost, resources, and technical requirements.
- Support preparation and review of project reports, technical reports, progress updates, engineering dashboards, and management presentations.
- Ensure project technical records, drawings, approvals, inspection records, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and engineering documentation are properly maintained and controlled.
- Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with company procedures, project requirements, Saudi regulations, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements.
- Promote effective coordination between engineering and construction teams to minimize delays, rework, technical disputes, and interface issues.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project team members.
- Exercise appropriate technical authority within the assigned scope and **escalate** critical engineering, construction, schedule, and contractual issues to project management.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Engineering Manager, or Project Management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant engineering and construction experience, including significant experience in a Senior Project Engineer or equivalent role.
- Previous experience with a Main Contractor on major construction projects is highly preferred.
- Proven experience leading engineering and construction activities on large-scale, complex, or mega construction projects.
- Experience in infrastructure, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, entertainment, sports, residential, industrial, or other major construction developments is highly preferred.
- Strong experience in multidisciplinary engineering coordination, construction management, technical management, and project execution.
- Proven ability to coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines and construction work fronts.
