Shaaran Resort Project – Al Ula, Saudi Arabia
A landmark and highly complex project located in a sensitive natural and geological environment.
The project involves challenging civil engineering works, complex construction sequencing, and very high standards in terms of methods engineering, safety, quality, and execution control.
Position Purpose
Reporting to the Project Management team, the Senior Methods Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and supervising construction methodologies throughout the project lifecycle, from early phases to execution support.
The role is central in ensuring the technical robustness, constructability, safety, and efficiency of all construction activities, while acting as a key interface between engineering, methods, construction teams, subcontractors, and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Methods Engineering & Construction Planning
- Define and develop construction methodologies for complex civil engineering works.
- Prepare work sequences, construction phasing, site installations, and execution strategies.
- Produce and review Method Statements, technical procedures, risk assessments, and HSE documentation.
- Participate in technical reviews and contribute to method optimization and constructability studies.
Construction Support
- Provide direct technical support to site teams during construction phases.
- Propose and implement practical technical solutions in response to site constraints and unforeseen conditions.
- Participate in coordination meetings between methods, engineering, and construction teams.
- Ensure alignment between defined methodologies and on-site execution.
Coordination & Interfaces
- Coordinate with subcontractors, designers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Review and validate subcontractors’ proposed methodologies and construction sequences.
- Interface with the client and project stakeholders on technical and methods-related topics.
Upstream Contribution & Leadership
- Contribute to early contractor involvement (ECI) and tender-related activities when required.
- Support cost, schedule, and resource optimization through efficient construction methods.
- Provide technical guidance and potential mentoring to junior methods engineers.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 8 to 15 years of experience in methods engineering, construction engineering, and/or execution roles.
- Proven experience on complex civil engineering projects, such as:
- Underground works, tunnels, dams, hydraulic structures, bridges, special structures, heavy civil works.
- Strong exposure to international projects is highly valued.
- Previous experience in the Middle East / Saudi Arabia is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in construction methods and execution sequencing.
- Solid understanding of temporary works, complex interfaces, and HSE requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-risk, high-complexity environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, site-oriented mindset.
Languages
- Fluent English (spoken and written) – mandatory.
- Arabic or any additional language is a strong plus.
- French is an advantage depending on the profile.
