UCC Holding seeks a Senior Material Engineer to drive technical evaluation, selection, and approval of project materials, ensuring compliance with project specs, international standards, codes, and local authority requirements.

You will oversee material testing, certification, documentation, and IMS compliance throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating with consultants, authorities, suppliers, and project teams to meet quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering parameters in submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of project specs and material approvals.
  • Identify suitable and compliant materials from local and international markets.
  • Develop and maintain a library of material specifications and requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee all onsite material testing activities.
  • Ensure testing follows approved specs, standards, and codes.
  • Ensure material test certificates are current and valid.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports on material status and approvals.
  • Review material requirements for value engineering and cost savings.
  • Propose innovative material solutions to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Develop understanding of material properties to support design decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain material tracking schedules per procedures.
  • Ensure shop and as-built drawings related to materials are accurate.
  • Close out material submittals with complete documentation before project completion.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to enhance technical capabilities.
  • Support HSE initiatives and safety awareness programs.
  • Contribute to incident reporting and resolution per IMS.

Senior Material Engineer is responsible for the technical evaluation, selection, and approval of project materials, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, international standards, applicable codes, and local authority requirements.

The role oversees material testing, certification, documentation, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Material Engineer works closely with consultants, statutory authorities, suppliers, and project teams to ensure that all materials meet the required technical and quality standards and receive the necessary approvals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all activities related to material testing, inspection, and certification.
  • Ensure full compliance of materials with project specifications, international codes, standards, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Verify that accurate and valid material test certificates and supporting documentation are maintained at all times.
  • Review material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable international standards.
  • Review engineering parameters and technical data within material submittals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of project specifications and material approval requirements.
  • Identify suitable and compliant materials from local and international markets.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive library of material specifications, standards, and technical requirements for easy reference.
  • Coordinate and oversee all onsite material testing activities.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with approved specifications, standards, and applicable codes.
  • Ensure material test certificates are available, accurate, valid, and up to date.
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress reports covering material status, approvals, outstanding issues, and potential delays.
  • Review material requirements to identify value engineering (VE) and cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Propose innovative material solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining technical compliance and quality.
  • Develop a strong understanding of material properties, applications, and benefits to support optimized design and engineering decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed material tracking schedules in accordance with project procedures.
  • Ensure shop drawings and as‑built drawings related to materials are accurately prepared, reviewed, and documented.
  • Close out material submittals and ensure all required documentation is completed and available in advance of project completion.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to enhance technical capabilities and knowledge.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives and participate in safety awareness programs.
  • Contribute to incident reporting, investigation, and resolution in accordance with company policies and the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Job Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of local and international material specifications, standards, and codes.

Experience
  • Total Experience: 13 years
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 5 years in a similar Material Engineering role
  • GCC Experience: Minimum 3 years
