A major architectural firm in Riyadh is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to lead high-quality landscape designs for a significant urban refurbishment project. The role requires a minimum of 12 years’ experience in landscape architecture, with expertise in multidisciplinary projects and strong knowledge of sustainable design principles. The successful candidate will manage design activities, coordinate with various teams, and ensure alignment with client visions. Setec is serving in capacity of Program Management Office (PMO) consultant
The program is a major urban refurbishment in Riyadh, featured by a densely populated and highly built-up area
The program is primarily a “brownfield” development and includes a significant number of heritage structures having historic value
Our PMO team is collocated with our client and functioning under a unified team framework
We are under a multi-year agreement with extension possibility
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture (required)
Postgraduate degree in Landscape Architecture (preferred)
Relevant professional certification/membership (e.g. CMLI, ASLA, AILA) preferred
Certification in LEED / BREEAM or other relevant sustainability rating systems is an advantage
Minimum 12+ years’ hands‑on experience in landscape architecture
Experience on large‑scale multidisciplinary projects, preferably urban regeneration and Transit‑Oriented Developments (TODs)
Experience contributing landscape and public realm inputs to pre‑concept, concept and detailed master‑plans
Experience in all aspects of concept, schematic and detailed landscape designs, at varying scales and degrees of complexity, including specification writing and contribution to design guidelines
Strong expertise in concept, schematic and detailed landscape design, including preparation of drawings, specifications and contributions to design guidelines
Knowledge of human‑centered landscape planning principles, best practices, and standards
Solid knowledge of best practices in landscape and public realm design to promote placemaking, walkability and cyclability in the KSA context
Good understanding of climate‑responsive and sustainable design principles and integration with LEED/BREEAM or similar frameworks
Proficiency in: Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and ArcGIS (minimum)
Advanced creative thinking, strong presentation, written, graphic communication and collaborative working skills
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to landscape architects and junior designers within the PMO
Coordinate landscape and public realm inputs with urban planning, architecture, infrastructure and mobility teams
Support management of external landscape consultants to ensure quality, coherence and alignment with project vision
Lead and develop high‑quality landscape and public realm designs from pre‑concept through detailed design stages
Prepare and review drawings, reports, specifications and design guidelines for open spaces, streetscapes, plazas and green infrastructure
Integrate placemaking, heritage, TOD and sustainability principles into landscape and public realm proposals
Undertake site and context analysis to inform design responses tailored to the KSA climate and cultural setting
Coordinate with internal disciplines and external consultants to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with master‑plans and infrastructure strategies
Prepare and deliver design presentations, visualizations and reports for client reviews and approvals
Participate in and, when required, lead design workshops and charrettes with client, stakeholders and authorities
Landscape and public realm design packages (pre‑concept, concept and detailed) including drawings and reports
Studies and analyses of alternative landscape designs, public space assets’ usage, and recreational asset inclusion
Landscape‑related design guidelines, specifications and inputs to master‑planning documents
Visualization and presentation materials supporting client and stakeholder engagement
Records of design workshops and coordination meetings, including agreed actions for landscape scope
Periodic progress and status inputs on landscape and public realm components for PMO and client reporting
