Job description

Medical Device Manufacturing – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Electromechanical Maintenance Technician to take direct responsibility for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing production equipment and critical utilities within our medical device manufacturing facility.

This is a hands-on repair position. The successful candidate must be personally capable of diagnosing faults, dismantling equipment where required, replacing or repairing faulty components, performing electrical and mechanical repairs, and returning equipment to safe operating condition.

We are not looking for someone whose primary approach is to call external contractors whenever equipment fails.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will personally perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs across:

  • Manufacturing and packaging machinery
  • Coating, converting and sealing equipment
  • Industrial chillers and chilled-water systems
  • Diesel generators and ATS systems
  • HVAC and ventilation systems
  • Air compressors and compressed-air systems
  • Water systems and water-treatment equipment
  • Pumps, motors and mechanical systems
  • Industrial electrical panels and three-phase systems
  • PLC-controlled machinery and automation components
  • VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors and control systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Conveyors, gearboxes, bearings and drive systems
  • Other factory equipment and utilities

The candidate must be capable of independently:

  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical equipment failures.
  • Using multimeters, clamp meters and other diagnostic tools to trace electrical faults.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical panels, motors, contactors, relays, breakers, sensors and control circuits.
  • Troubleshooting three-phase electrical systems.
  • Replacing and repairing motors, pumps, bearings, valves, belts, mechanical components and related equipment.
  • Troubleshooting VFDs, sensors and basic PLC-controlled systems.
  • Identifying mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control-system faults on production machinery.
  • Performing machine disassembly and reassembly when required for repairs.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing industrial chillers and associated pumps, controls and chilled-water systems.
  • Performing routine servicing and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of diesel generators.
  • Troubleshooting generator starting, charging, battery, cooling, fuel and control-system faults.
  • Testing and troubleshooting ATS and emergency power systems.
  • Troubleshooting compressors, pumps, HVAC equipment and water systems.
  • Carrying out emergency breakdown repairs to restore production as quickly and safely as possible.

External contractors should be used only where specialized certification, specialized equipment or major overhaul work makes external support necessary. The maintenance technician is expected to personally perform normal troubleshooting and repairs.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for production machinery and utilities.
  • Perform routine inspection, lubrication, adjustment, cleaning and component replacement.
  • Maintain critical spare-parts requirements.
  • Analyze recurring breakdowns and identify root causes rather than repeatedly performing temporary repairs.
  • Recommend equipment improvements and modifications to increase reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and breakdown records.
  • Maintain equipment manuals, drawings and maintenance histories.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Verify electrical, mechanical, compressed-air, water and other utility connections.
  • Perform equipment testing before production release.
  • Support IQ, OQ and PQ activities.
  • Participate in production trials and live equipment testing.
  • Support troubleshooting and corrective actions during equipment qualification.
  • Ensure equipment modifications are properly documented and coordinated with Quality.

Regulated Manufacturing Environment

The candidate will work within a medical device manufacturing environment and must follow applicable Quality, GMP and EHS requirements.

Previous experience in medical device manufacturing is preferred , although candidates from pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics or other regulated manufacturing industries will also be considered.

The candidate must understand the importance of:

  • Controlled maintenance records
  • Calibration
  • Change control
  • Safe maintenance practices
  • Audit readiness

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility.
  • Strong practical electrical AND mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience personally repairing industrial machinery.
  • Practical experience working with chillers, generators, pumps, motors and industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience with three-phase electrical systems and industrial control panels.
  • Experience with VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors and industrial controls.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting capability strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Medical device, pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a technically strong, hands-on problem solver .

This person should be comfortable going directly to a failed machine, opening the electrical panel, reading the schematic, testing components, identifying the fault and personally carrying out the repair .

Likewise, if there is a problem with a generator, chiller, pump, compressor or another factory utility, the candidate should be capable of investigating and repairing the problem themselves within their technical competency.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of the factory’s equipment and does not consider the job complete until the root cause has been identified, the equipment has been repaired, tested and returned to reliable operation .
