Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Steel Welding Inspector - Bridges to oversee the quality of structural steel fabrication, welding, erection, and related inspection activities on major bridge projects.

You will inspect welded components, verify materials, review WPS/PQR, and witness NDT while ensuring conformance with ITPs, drawings and project specifications. You will coordinate with QA/QC teams, contractors, and designers throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in steel fabrication, welding inspection and quality control.
• Significant bridge/major infrastructure project experience.
• CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS CWI preferred.
• Familiar with AWS/ASTM/ISO/EN welding codes and NDT fundamentals.
• Ability to read drawings, WPS/PQRs and NDT reports.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel fabrication and welding for bridges and related works.
• Verify materials against drawings, specs and certificates.
• Review WPS, PQR and welder qualifications.
• Ensure welders are properly qualified and approved.
• Conduct pre-, in-process and post-welding inspections.
• Coordinate and witness NDT (UT, MT, PT, RT) as applicable.
• Review NDT reports and ensure proper repairs and closeouts.
• Manage NCRs, CAPAs and quality documentation.
• Monitor storage, handling, drying and issuance of welding consumables.
• Inspect shop and field welds, dimensions and tolerances.
