Job description

The Registrar in Clinical Pathology plays a key role in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases through laboratory testing of blood, bodily fluids, and tissue samples. This position supports the pathology department by performing clinical investigations, interpreting laboratory results, and ensuring high standards of laboratory practice in line with healthcare regulations and medical ethics.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee a wide range of clinical laboratory tests including hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and molecular diagnostics.
• Interpret laboratory findings and correlate them clinically in collaboration with treating physicians.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality assurance programs.
• Maintain documentation and reports in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the implementation of new testing methodologies and instrumentation.
• Participate in on-call duties and provide consultation to other departments when required.
• Contribute to the training and supervision of laboratory technologists and junior medical staff.
• Adhere to infection control and biosafety standards in all laboratory operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
• Completed residency training in Clinical Pathology.
• Licensed by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a Registrar or Assistant Specialist in Clinical Pathology.
• At least 2-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or pathology department.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory instruments, diagnostic techniques, and quality control systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
