Job description
Principal Transport Planner

Mott MacDonald is looking for a Principal Transport Planner to lead the delivery of transportation and mobility support on masterplanning and land development projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor small design teams to provide efficient and compliant deliverables with a high standard of quality.
  • Lead the development of transportation strategies and studies with careful consideration of emerging trends in the transportation and mobility space.
  • Monitor and control project budgets and schedules for projects; initiate necessary action to achieve agreed financial targets.
  • Review client briefs (RFPs) and respond with technical, tailored proposals.
  • Lead liaison with local authorities and other key stakeholders in pursuit of approvals and general coordination.
  • Coordinate with other masterplan disciplines to ensure coordinated and integrated solutions.
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of relevant transport strategy and study documents, including drawings and design team support throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Represent the company in technical meetings with clients, supervise the work of junior staff and provide technical and professional guidance to assist their development.
Candidate Specification
  • Bachelor's in Transportation or Civil Engineering; an MSc in Transport Planning or Civil Engineering is highly advantageous.
  • Relevant experience in the GCC region for major transport planning projects.
  • Demonstrable experience leading studies and working within multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver integrated outcomes.
  • Strong local contact base with developers and government agencies.
  • Experience liaising with government authorities and municipality departments to obtain approvals.
  • Experience making sound judgements on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Highly competent in operational and junction modelling software such as Synchro, HCS and Sidra.
  • Arabic speaking is advantageous.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
