Job summary

UMATR is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer in Saudi Arabia to take senior technical ownership of the platform, shaping architecture and solving complex distributed-systems challenges. You will lead end-to-end backend infrastructure, data pipelines, APIs, and SDKs, while driving platform scalability and governance.

You’ll work primarily with C#/.NET, craft secure, scalable APIs, and guide AI-enabled capabilities such as AI agents and tool use.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience at senior level.
• Proven experience delivering scalable SaaS platforms or complex distributed systems in production.
• Strong backend and distributed-systems expertise in C#/Go/Python/Java/Node.js.
• Strong API design experience across REST and/or GraphQL, with OAuth/JWT/SSO authentication patterns.
• Experience with GCP and/or AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, containers, CI/CD and observability.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI integration patterns (LLM prompting, RAG, tool/function calling, MCP or agent architectures).
• Exceptional written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Define governed data pipelines with contracts, lineage, quality controls and reliable replay.

• Make pragmatic technology and data-store decisions across relational, time-series, streaming, search and vector workloads.
• Drive the evolution of the backend platform, primarily with C#/.NET, while contributing across other languages.
• Shape the technical direction of AI-native capabilities, including AI agents, retrieval, tool use, MCP and model evaluation.
• Improve engineering standards across testing, CI/CD, observability, release processes and production operations.

Their platform brings together data from connected devices, workers and sites to power real-time safety, compliance and productivity applications.

Who We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with sustained impact at Staff, Principal, Lead Architect or equivalent level.
• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable SaaS platforms or complex distributed systems in production.
• Strong backend and distributed-systems expertise, with deep hands‑on experience in at least one of C#/.NET, Go, Python, Java or Node.js.
• Strong API design experience across REST and/or GraphQL, with knowledge of authentication and identity patterns such as OAuth, JWT and SSO.
• Experience with GCP and/or AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, containers, CI/CD and observability.
• Experience working with governed data platforms, ontologies, data lineage or similar systems.
• Hands‑on experience with modern AI integration patterns such as LLM prompting, RAG, tool/function calling, MCP or agent architectures.
• Exceptional written and spoken English.
