Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an Electrical Engineer to apply protection system concepts, configure and test protective relays, and support customers in design and commissioning of SEL protection solutions.

The role requires 2+ years, willingness to travel at least 25%, strong communication, and teamwork. You will develop design documents, participate in testing, and uphold SEL manufacturing and safety standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 2+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing practices and philosophies.
• Good knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applications.
• Working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applications.
• Willing to travel 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Possesses and applies fundamental concepts of power system protection and SEL products.
• Train and assist customers with design, configuration, validation, installation and operation of protection systems.
• Complete and implement assigned work within scope, schedule and budget with high quality and safety.
• Prepare functional design specifications and maintain design documents and test reports.
