Job summary

The role requires a Nursing degree, SCFHS license, BLS certification, and proven OR or perioperative experience. Strong teamwork and meticulous attention to detail are essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven operating room or perioperative nursing experience.
• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and infection prevention.
• Ability to respond effectively to clinical emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the operating room with instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Assess preoperative needs and verify patient identity, procedures, consent and records.
• Assist surgeons and surgical team during procedures as required.
• Perform scrub and circulating nurse duties per protocols.
• Maintain aseptic technique and infection prevention standards.
• Monitor patient conditions before, during and after procedures with anesthesia and surgical teams.
• Count surgical instruments, sponges and needles per safety protocols.
• Ensure correct handling and transfer of surgical specimens.
• Provide nursing care during perioperative period and prepare patients for surgery.
• Identify and respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions and procedures in medical records.
• Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and storage of instruments.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other professionals for safe care.
• Comply with hospital policies and patient safety regulations.
