Job summary

Al Jomaih Energy and Water is seeking an experienced plant operator to operate gas turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems while following established procedures and safety protocols.

The role requires monitoring equipment, performing inspections, and maintaining records. Candidates should be able to work shifts, support safety initiatives, and collaborate with the control room and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor gas turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems according to procedures and safety protocols.

• Support local isolations and Permit to Work compliance.
• Report safety incidents and act as a member of the Emergency Response team.
• Monitor parameters using local instruments and data systems to keep equipment within limits.
• Report anomalies to the CRO or Shift Supervisor promptly.
• Assist in start-up and shutdown of plant systems following protocols.
• Collaborate with control room and handover communications.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections including cleaning and lubrication.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to operational reports.
• Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reliability; engage in training.

Job description

Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operation
   • Operate and monitor gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and auxiliary systems according to established procedures and safety protocols.
   • Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure operational integrity and optimal performance.
2. Safety and Compliance
   • Follow all health and safety regulations, adhere to company policies, and promote a culture of safety among fellow operators.
   • Participate in safety drills and training sessions to maintain a high level of awareness regarding safety practices.
   • Support in local isolations and Permit to Work compliance.
   • Report safety incidents.
   • Act as a member of the Emergency Response team.
3. Monitoring and Reporting
   • Monitor operational parameters using local instruments, control panels, and data acquisition systems to ensure equipment operates within specified limits.
   • Report any anomalies or deviations to the Control Room Operator (CRO) or Shift Supervisor in a timely manner.
4. Start‑Up and Shutdown Procedures
   • Assist in the start‑up and shutdown of gas turbines, HRSGs, STs and other plant systems following established operational protocols.
   • Execute emergency procedures as necessary in response to alarms or operational disturbances.
5. Coordination with Control Room
   • Collaborate closely with the control room team, communicating real‑time operational status and receiving instructions as required.
   • Actively participate in defect identification and recording during shift handovers, ensuring that all relevant information about operational conditions is conveyed.
6. Routine Maintenance and Inspection
   • Perform routine maintenance tasks as directed, including cleaning and lubrication of equipment.
   • Conduct visual inspections, check fluid levels, and perform minor adjustments to maintain efficient operation.
7. Documentation
   • Maintain accurate records of operational activities, equipment status, and incidents in log sheets, logbooks or computerized systems.
   • Provide input for operational reports and participate in the analysis of operational data to identify trends or issues.
8. Continuous Improvement
   • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving operational efficiency and reliability.
   • Engage in training and development programs to enhance technical skills related to Siemens gas turbines and power plant operations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of [X] years of experience in power plant operations, with specific experience in operating gas turbines, preferably Siemens models.

Technical Knowledge

Understanding of combined cycle power generation, turbine operation, and related systems and technologies.
