Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Riyadh is seeking a Medical Science Liaison – Hematology to maximize product value through high scientific quality communication with leading specialists on a peer-to-peer basis. The MSL will discuss our products, patient treatment trends and studies to support Medical Affairs plans and business goals.

Qualifications

• Pharmacists and physicians with a bachelor’s degree; postgraduate studies are an advantage.
• Minimum 2 years experience, preferably in a multinational pharmaceutical company.
• Scientific acumen and the ability to communicate with leading specialists peer-to-peer.

Responsibilities

• Keep abreast of medical and scientific knowledge and update products and clinical activities.
• Develop and maintain a network of leading specialists and understand their needs.
• Communicate the value of company products, including formulary discussions.

We are searching for the best talent for the Medical Science Liaison – Hematology role based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Purpose:

To maximize company product value through high scientific quality communication with Leading Specialists on a peer-to-peer basis. Through activities in line with the Medical Affairs Plan, the MSL is jointly responsible for the realization of short-term and long-term company goals.

To be a therapeutic area scientific expert in Multiple Myeloma, responsible for discussing our products, patients’ treatment trends and studies in the therapeutic areas in which we are involved, on a peer-to-peer basis with defined audience of Leading Specialists (Physicians, Pharmacists, Hospital Managers, Board Members of Scientific Societies, and other partners) and to be considered a trusted scientific counterpart.

You will be responsible for:

• To keep abreast of medical and scientific knowledge. Continuously update their knowledge of products, patient’s treatment trends and clinical activities and studies conducted within the therapeutic area globally and in their region.
• Development and maintenance of a contact network with Leading Specialists. Understands their needs, key value drivers, practical treatment patterns and scientific activities within the therapeutic area
• Communicates value of company products, incl. formulary discussions
• Through scientific interactions, champion evidence-based discussions and contribute to fostering innovative approaches
• Represents the company within therapeutic area professional associations in cooperation with Medical Advisor/ Medical Lead/Medical Director
• Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data to Leading Specialists and broader external health-care-related audiences: Communicates directly and proactively scientific information of our products within the approved label
• Communicates non-promotional general information about our company, including description of research and development programs
• Responds to unsolicited scientific queries for approved products and products/indications in development, based on Medical Affairs and Medical Information documents
• Organization and participation in Medical Education activities: Build Medical Education programs with scientific third parties
• Supports speakers with scientific data of highest quality for educational purposes
• Organization and participation in Advisory Boards in cooperation with Medical Advisor/Medical Lead/Medical Director
• Provision of scientific support to company Sales RepresentativeProvides medical and product training and scientific support to Sales Representatives in coordination with the Training Department as appropriate
• Acts as a reference point to Sales Representatives for any scientific query, in collaboration with Medical Information as appropriate
• Support Medical Affairs study execution Supports the set up and follow up of registries and other non-interventional Medical Affairs studies
• Propose investigators and sites for interventional and non-interventional Medical Affairs studies
• Participate in investigator meetings preparation, recruitment follow-up and study result presentation
• Receives investigator proposals for IIS and to ensure they are discussed within the Medical Affairs department for decision
• Through scientific interactions, gain valuable insight into treatment patterns, and scientific activities in the therapeutic area and provide input to the company Medical Affairs Plan / business decision-making
• Achieve main performance measures (Performance Goals) to drive medical data dissemination, educational and data generation initiatives

Qualifications:

Pharmacists/Physician bachelor's degree, postgraduate studies is an advantage

2 years experience preferably within multinational pharmaceutical company (working as medical science liaison is an advantage)

Scientific acumen and communication skills in order to be accepted by Leading Specialists in peer- to-peer relationship.

Highly customer focused with an awareness of the importance of business results

Innovative with the ability to coordinate and drive a complex and changing environment

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Excellent presentation & communication skills
• Flexible to travel and to spend 80% of their time in interactions with experts
• Deep knowledge of the hematology therapeutic area, strength in research and interpretation of medical data
• Relevant work experience & scientific acumen in order to be accepted by Leading Specialists in peer-to-peer relationship
• Awareness of business strategy and high customer focus with an understanding of the importance of business results
• Innovative, able to work in a matrix and coordinate and drive a complex and changing environment
