Job summary

Duncan & Ross Consulting seeks an experienced Machinery Outfitting Engineer (Procurement Support) with 5–10 years in marine and shipbuilding projects. You will provide engineering support to machinery procurement, review specs, evaluate vendor offers, and coordinate with vendors to ensure conformance with project requirements and marine standards.

You will review drawings and layouts, verify technical data, and support procurement documentation and inspections.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of machinery procurement engineering or outfitting experience in marine projects.
• Hands-on with procurement of marine machinery and outfitting components.
• Experience reviewing specifications, datasheets, vendor quotations, and supplier docs.
• Experience in TBEs, technical comparison sheets, and supplier compliance checks.
• Familiarity with marine classification requirements and shipbuilding standards.
• Ability to interpret drawings, layouts, requisitions, and equipment specs.
• Proven vendor coordination and cross-discipline communication.
• Exposure to AVEVA Marine or similar shipbuilding CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for machinery outfitting procurement in marine projects.
• Review specifications, equipment lists, and procurement requirements to identify suitable equipment and suppliers.
• Prepare and review technical requisitions, datasheets, and procurement documents.
• Review vendor quotations and technical proposals for compliance.
• Perform TBEs and create technical comparison sheets for equipment.
• Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and suppliers to clarify requirements.
• Check vendor drawings, layouts, and interfaces for project compliance.
• Verify dimensions, weights, power, and utility connections against specs.
• Ensure equipment compatibility with vessel layouts and systems.
• Support purchase requisitions and technical documentation for procurement packages.
• Respond to technical queries and resolve discrepancies with engineering.
• Monitor vendor document submissions and ensure timely approvals.
• Assist in technical clarification meetings with suppliers and during vendor evaluations.
• Review deviations and proposed alternatives with the engineering team.
