Job summary

Hatch Maaden Partnership is seeking a Translator Interpreter to deliver high-quality translation and interpretation for technical, commercial, and business activities.

You will support engineering, project delivery, operations, procurement, and leadership with accurate English-M Mandarin communication in fast-paced projects, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or related discipline.
• Professional-level written translation and oral interpretation in English and Mandarin.
• 3+ years of translation/interpretation experience in corporate, engineering, or project environments.
• Experience with engineering, technical, and project delivery documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide translation of technical documents, reports, specifications, procedures, and project documentation between English and Mandarin.
• Review translations for accuracy and terminology consistency.
• Maintain translation databases and reference materials for project-wide consistency.
• Prepare and localize business communications and stakeholder engagement documents.

The Translator Interpreter is responsible for providing high-quality translation and interpretation services to support technical commercial and business activities across the Hatch Ma aden Partnership The role ensures accurate communication between English and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders enabling collaboration across engineering project delivery operations procurement and leadership teams The successful candidate will possess strong language skills technical understanding of the mining and metals industry and the ability to work in a fast-paced project environment while maintaining accuracy confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities

Translation Services

• Translate technical documents engineering reports specifications procedures correspondence presentations and project documentation between English and Mandarin
• Review translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy consistency and appropriate industry terminology
• Maintain translation records terminology databases and reference materials to support consistency across projects
• Assist in the preparation and localization of business communications training materials and stakeholder engagement documents

Interpretation Services

• Provide consecutive and or simultaneous interpretation during meetings workshops presentations negotiations and site visits
• Facilitate communication between project teams management clients contractors and external stakeholders
• Support cross-cultural communication and help ensure effective understanding between parties

Project Business Support

• Assist project teams by translating technical information and conducting basic research when required
• Support the coordination of communications between international and local stakeholders
• Prepare summaries and translated meeting notes to support project decision-making
• Ensure confidentiality of sensitive commercial operational and project information

Collaboration Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with engineering project management procurement and operational teams to support business objectives
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of translation standards templates and processes
• Stay informed of industry-specific terminology technical developments and best practices within the mining and metals sector

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related discipline.
• Professional-level written translation and oral interpretation skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience providing translation and interpretation services in a corporate, engineering, industrial, or project environment.
• Demonstrated experience translating and interpreting engineering, technical, and project delivery documentation, with strong knowledge of engineering terminology and industry-specific language.
• Proven ability to support engineering, construction, mining, metals, or industrial projects where accurate interpretation of technical terminology is critical.
• Experience within the mining, metals, engineering construction, or industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of technical specifications, engineering reports, drawings, procedures, and project documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Preferred: Technical qualifications or experience in Engineering, Mining, Metallurgy, Construction, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting large-scale EPCM, mining, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
• Familiarity with technical engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documentation.
• Experience supporting multinational engineering organizations and cross-cultural project teams.
