Job summary

EPAM is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to lead the design and deployment of AI-native systems, including agents and RAG workflows. You will write production-grade Python and collaborate with SMEs to translate client needs into robust solutions.

The role emphasizes building evaluation pipelines, designing for failure, and advancing AI governance and observability. A hybrid Latvia setup is offered, with relocation possible.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with production AI/LLM
• Expert-level Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks and major LLM providers
• Production deployment experience on major cloud platforms with CI/CD
• Strong ability to explain trade-offs to diverse audiences
• C1 level English proficiency
• Academic degree in CS or related field

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship end-to-end AI-native systems including agents, workflows, RAG and integration harnesses
• Write production-grade Python code for integrations, APIs, data access and deployment
• Work with SMEs and end-users to understand value and design feedback loops
• Engage early to shape use cases and assess technical feasibility
• Build evaluation pipelines to prove system utility
• Design for failure with retries, fallbacks, cost limits and human-in-the-loop actions
• Capture domain knowledge and optimize repeatable workflows across engagements
• Ensure adherence to engineering excellence standards including TDD and CI
