Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Riyadh is seeking a Junior Urban Designer to support planning, design and delivery of urban development projects. You will assist in master plans, public realm, streetscape and placemaking initiatives, producing drawings, diagrams and reports for review.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in a related field and 1–4 years of experience; proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe CS, SketchUp, and GIS is expected. English fluency preferred; Arabic a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing urban design studies, concept plans, master plans, and frameworks.
• Support development of public realm, streetscape, landscape, and placemaking initiatives.

• Conduct site assessments, urban analysis, land-use studies, and benchmarking.
• Assist in design guideline and planning report preparation; ensure alignment with project objectives.

Job Description Overview

We are seeking a motivated and talented Junior Urban Designer to support the planning, design, and delivery of urban development projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Your role Assist in the preparation of urban design studies, concept plans, master plans, and urban development frameworks. Support the development of public realm, streetscape, landscape, and placemaking initiatives. Produce high-quality urban design drawings, diagrams, presentations, and reports. Conduct site assessments, urban analysis, land-use studies, and benchmarking exercises. Assist in the preparation of design guidelines, planning reports, and technical documentation. Support senior team members in reviewing design submissions and ensuring compliance with project objectives. Coordinate with architects, planners, landscape architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline.
• 1-4 years of professional experience in urban design, planning, architecture, or related fields.
• Master's degree in Urban Design or Urban Planning is advantageous.
• Strong design, graphic communication, and visualization capabilities.
• Familiarity with urban design principles, public realm design, and placemaking concepts.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with GIS, Revit, Rhino, Lumion, Enscape, or similar design tools is desirable.
• Strong report-writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
