Job description

We are seeking an experienced Java Team Lead to oversee the design, development, and delivery of enterprise‑grade web portals and digital experience solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Java/J2EE and related frameworks, combined with proven leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of developers.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead a team of Java developers in delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performance solutions.
• Define technical architecture, coding standards, and best practices for portal and web application development.
• Review and approve technical designs, code, and system configurations.
• Provide hands‑on support in designing, coding, debugging, and optimizing applications when necessary.

Project Delivery

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Architects to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Plan, prioritize, and allocate tasks for the development team to ensure timely delivery.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
• Oversee integration of Liferay portals with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, ECM).

People & Process Management

• Mentor, coach, and develop team members to enhance skills and productivity.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.
• Drive Agile/Scrum practices, ensuring continuous delivery and improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development, with at least 2+ years leading development teams.
• Strong expertise in Java, including customization, theming, portlet/module development, and OSGi frameworks.
• Proficiency in Spring, Hibernate/JPA, RESTful services, and front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React/Angular is a plus).
  
• Solid understanding of software design principles, microservices, cloud deployment (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating Liferay with identity management (SSO, LDAP, OAuth2, SAML).
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Exposure to DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, SonarQube).
• Liferay certification(s) is a plus.
• Familiarity with enterprise content management (ECM) and document management systems (e.g., Alfresco, SharePoint).
