Job summary

Confidential in Saudi Arabia is seeking two Geological Slide Scanning Technicians to support the daily operation of automated geological slide-scanning equipment. You will be responsible for careful handling, preparation, tracking, scanning, inspection, and quality control of petrographic thin-section slides.

The successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related field, at least 3 years of scanner experience, and be willing to relocate and work onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geoscience, Petrography, Microscopy, Laboratory or a related scientific or technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating automated geological slide scanners.
• Demonstrated ability to inspect, clean, handle, track, and scan petrographic thin-section slides.
• Ability to identify imaging issues and perform accurate rescanning.
• Experience maintaining slide manifests, scanning logs, and related operational records.
• Experience with ZEISS AxioScan 7 or later versions is preferred.
• Willing to relocate and onsite work capability.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated slide-scanning equipment per procedures.
• Select scanning settings based on slide and project requirements.
• Inspect, clean, handle, label, track, and scan petrographic thin-section slides.
• Maintain accurate slide manifests and scanning records.
• Review scanned images for imaging or quality issues.
• Rescan images not meeting quality standards.
• Monitor equipment performance and report issues promptly.
• Maintain organized and traceable workflow for all slides.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and laboratory personnel to meet schedules.
