Job summary

Reboot Monkey seeks a Freelance Data Center Technician to deliver on-demand support for global data centers. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and networking equipment, ensuring uptime while collaborating with remote teams.

The role requires deep data center expertise, independence, and flexibility to work across time zones. Travel may be required; remote work is supported with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in data center operations with freelance or independent projects.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper networking devices.
• Strong proficiency in managing Windows and Linux systems.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and VLANs; virtualization knowledge is a plus.
• Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, or CompTIA Linux+ are desirable.
• Willingness to travel to data center locations on short notice and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and other hardware for maximum uptime.
• Monitor data center operations remotely and on-site, diagnose problems, and resolve issues quickly.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking devices like Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Manage Linux and Windows-based systems, applying updates and security patches.
• Document all tasks and performance, providing reports to remote management for transparency.
• Implement security protocols to protect data center infrastructure and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with remote IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on projects to drive efficiency.
