Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an Associate Director - Fire & Life Safety to lead and grow our specialist team in Dubai, UAE. You will drive complex fire safety strategies across major infrastructure and building projects, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.

You will take Commercial and Technical leadership for FLS projects, mentor staff, and sustain high-quality design reports and drawings in line with IBC/NFPA/SBC, BIM and CFD analyses.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in fire & life safety with at least 5 years in leadership.
• Extensive knowledge of regional and international codes (SBC/UAE Fire Code, NFPA, IBC, BS/EN).
• Professional certification (CFPS, CEng, PE) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Fire & Life Safety team on multidisciplinary projects.
• Lead design efforts to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
• Conduct onsite inspections during project construction to verify adherence to the fire strategy.
• Coordinate and present projects to approving authorities for compliance.
• Review submittals and shop drawings ensuring fire protection requirements.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and drive a collaborative culture.
• Interpret CFD results to assess engineering solutions and document findings.
• Review BIM designs (Revit, ACC) for integration of fire safety principles.
