Job summary

APEX Resources is seeking a Field Engineer to perform on-site installation and commissioning of electrical rotating machines, with ongoing maintenance and repairs at customer sites in the Eastern Province. The role requires deep hands-on experience with motors, generators, AVR systems and related control systems.

The candidate will lead technical work at customer sites, provide instruction to customer personnel, prepare reports and ensure compliance with safety standards while delivering

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of field experience with electrical motors and generators.
  • Hands-on experience with on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade medium voltage motors, generators and AVR systems.
  • Provide technical instruction to customer representatives at site.
  • Prepare technical reports, timesheets and service documentation.

Job description

The Field Engineer will be responsible for onsite installation of electrical rotating machines and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation. And provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites.

As rotating machine service engineer he is expected to carry out the following activities:

  • supervision of installation and commissioning of rotating machines and their control and regulation systems and knowing all electrical aspects of the installation and commissioning of electrical rotating machines.
  • testing and validating rotating machines protection systems
  • testing electrical machines with AD& DC HV kits
  • inspecting and servicing brushless excitation system electrical circuit
  • testing surge arrestors and capacitors
  • inspecting and servicing static excitation injection systems for rotating machines
  • testing diodes and capacitors on brushless excitation
  • carrying our IR& PI tests
  • testing temperatures sensors in rotating machines
  • performing HV surge testing of electrical machines
  • inspecting stator windings and core
  • testing and servicing mechanical jacking oil systems
  • understanding rotating machines lube oil systems and how to inspect them .
  • assembly and handing of vertical and horizontal bearings and rotor mounted fans and blades.
  • measuring mechanical components
  • handling heavy weight and lifting equipment
  • using dialectic chemicals for cleaning of electrical machines
  • testing CT's and VT's

he will:

Perform on-site installation, Commissioning, refurbishment, Startup, Maintenance,

Trouble Shooting & Upgrading of Medium Voltage synchronous and induction motors , generators , excitation & AVR systems.

Knowledge on Medium Voltage Variable speed drives systems will be advantage .

Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services.

Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites .

Writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.

Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites.

Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards.

Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of 10 years of field experience in electrical motors and generators.
