Job summary

TAWANTECH is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Riyadh to lead highly scalable backend services, drive architectural standards, and mentor engineers. The role focuses on security, performance, and always-on reliability for payment-related systems.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in backend engineering, deep Java/Spring Boot expertise, and experience in regulated financial services. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience including senior/lead ownership.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
• Strong background in security, performance engineering, and production operations at scale.
• Payments, banking, or regulated financial services experience.
• Professional Certificates.

Responsibilities

• Design complex backend architectures, services, APIs, and integration patterns across squads.
• Act as senior technical authority for critical backend systems and lead implementations.
• Define and enforce backend engineering standards, patterns, and development practices.
• Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, resilience, performance, and availability requirements.
• Design for high availability and resilience in payment-critical, always-on services.
• Review complex code, technical designs, and implementation approaches.
• Resolve production incidents and drive root-cause remediation.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and service communication.
• Align designs with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities.
• Mentor backend engineers and raise the technical bar.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and roadmaps.

• Act as senior technical authority for critical backend systems and lead their implementation.

• Define and enforce backend engineering standards, patterns, and development practices.

• Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, resilience, performance, and availability requirements.

• Design for high availability and resilience in payment-critical, always-on services.

• Review complex code, technical designs, and implementation approaches.

• Resolve critical production incidents and drive root-cause remediation.

• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and service communication.

• Align designs with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements.
