Job summary

Aggreko in Riyadh seeks an Event Design Engineer to craft safe, reliable energy and temperature control solutions for major live events across the Middle East. You’ll translate customer requirements into practical engineering designs, working with customers, consultants, and our teams to deliver compelling technical solutions.

The role requires 5+ years in power/utility/oil & gas with electrical/mechanical design expertise, AutoCAD proficiency, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Degree, essential.
• Minimum of 5 years’ design experience in Power Generation/Utility/Oil & Gas.
• Fluent in English; strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with electrical tools/software.
• Experience in electrical or mechanical design, preferably with temporary power and temp control.
• Strong understanding of generators, LV distribution, protection and earthing.
• Knowledge of HVAC/temperature control systems is beneficial.
• Live events experience preferred; interest in BESS/solar/low-carbon tech.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop temporary power and temperature control solutions for events.
• Lead technical conversations with customers and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Support projects from concept through detailed engineering, tender support, installation and delivery.
• Create power packages optimized for Aggreko fleet usage.
• Produce design packs: SLDs, site layouts, calculations, BOMs and docs.
• Ensure compliance with Aggreko and international engineering standards.
• Handover engineering to project management and operations with clear risk communications.
• Support bids and opportunities with technical expertise.
• Work outside normal hours as events demand; collaborate with engineering team through project life cycle.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Event Design Engineer based in Riyadh

You will involve working closely with customers, consultants, production companies, venue operators and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into safe, reliable and commercially effective engineering solutions. As the technical representative for Aggreko’s KSA Events business, you will play a key role in major and complex event opportunities, providing technical expertise, identifying innovative solutions and ensuring your designs meet the customer’s requirements, as well as the Aggreko and wider international engineering standards.

What you’ll do as an Event Design Engineer

• Design and develop temporary power and temperature control solutions for small to large-scale events across the Middle East
• Drive technical conversations directly with customers and key event stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions
• Support projects from initial concept and customer engagement through detailed engineering, equipment selection, tender support, installation and delivery
• Design power packages to suit project needs and maximize use of Aggreko fleet products
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, production companies and key industry partners
• Produce design packs including single-line diagrams (SLDs), site layout drawings, calculations, bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation as per event-specific requirements
• Ensure all designs comply with Aggreko and international engineering standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Carry out complete engineering handover to Project Management and Operations, ensuring installation requirements and key technical risks are clearly communicated
• Support strategic bids, tenders and major customer opportunities with technical expertise and solution development
• Regularly working outside of normal working hours to the demand of the events industry
• Collaborate with Engineering Team on design support requirements for the complete project life cycle
• Ensure design complies with relevant codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, local regulations)

You are

• Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering Degree
• Minimum of 5 years’ design experience in a Power Generation/ Utility/ Oil & Gas Industry
• Fluent in English, a second language would be an advantage
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong computer design skills
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD
• Experience in electrical or mechanical tools/software
• Relevant experience in electrical or mechanical design engineering, preferably with temporary power and temperature control solutions
• Strong understanding of generators, LV distribution, protection, earthing and associated electrical infrastructure
• Knowledge of HVAC and temperature control systems including chillers, AHUs, pumps, ductwork and cooling calculations would be beneficial
• Experience working in the live events industry is preferred
• Interested in emerging technologies such as BESS, solar and low-carbon power
• Strong customer-facing and relationship building skills, having direct experience working with internal and external stakeholders
