Job description

Role Purpose:

Execute product engineering, design development, and technical support activities for AMCO’s upstream Oil & Gas product portfolio. As an intermediate-level engineer, the role independently develops and verifies designs, drawings, calculations, BOMs, and technical documentation; supports customer enquiries and product applications; and coordinates with Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Commercial teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable, cost‑effective, and standards‑compliant products. The role works within approved engineering procedures and escalates high‑risk, novel, or approval‑critical matters to senior engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
Design Development & Product Engineering
  • Develop and modify designs for gate valves, hammer unions, OCTG products, API wellhead and pressure‑control equipment, and wireline tools.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, 3D models, calculations, BOMs, specifications, and Design Verification Reports within delegated authority.
  • Perform design verification, material selection, tolerance evaluation, and value‑engineering assessments in line with applicable requirements.
  • Process engineering changes, controlled document updates, and product lifecycle records in the PLM or approved document‑control system.
Product & Customer Support
  • Provide technical input for customer enquiries, quotations, bids, product applications, contract reviews, and sales‑order feasibility assessments.
  • Prepare technical clarifications, datasheets, catalogues, presentations, and troubleshooting guidance, escalating exceptions when required.
Cross‑Functional Execution
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing on manufacturability, route cards, tooling, process instructions, assembly, and testing requirements.
  • Support Procurement with material specifications, technical bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, and certification or traceability requirements.
  • Work with Quality on ITPs, acceptance criteria, nonconformities, CAPA, root‑cause analysis, and audit evidence.
Standards, Audits & Improvement
  • Apply API 6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, and 5B requirements and relevant ASME, NACE, ISO, and customer specifications.
  • Support API monogram, customer, internal, and external audits and maintain complete, current, and traceable engineering records.

Identify design, quality, lead‑time, and cost improvements and share lessons learned with engineering and operational teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of assigned drawings, models, calculations, BOMs, specifications, and verification records.
  • Compliance of assigned engineering outputs with approved design inputs, API standards, customer requirements, and document‑control procedures.
  • Effective technical support for quotations, customer enquiries, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and field‑service requirements.
  • Timely identification and escalation of design risk, nonconformity, feasibility constraints, technical deviations, and approval requirements.
  • Maintaining traceable product data, engineering‑change records, design files, and audit evidence.
  • Contribution to measurable improvements in product reliability, manufacturability, quality, cost, and lead time.
Person Specification:
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; Industrial Design may be considered where supported by relevant product‑engineering experience.
Experience
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience in product engineering, design development, and technical support within an Oil & Gas manufacturing, service, or repair environment.
  • Demonstrated experience independently delivering moderately complex engineering assignments and supporting API, customer, or quality audits.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of gate valves, hammer unions, OCTG products and connections, wellhead and pressure‑control equipment, or wireline tools.
  • Practical knowledge of API 6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, and 5B, with awareness of ASME, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, ISO, and customer requirements.
  • Good understanding of CNC machining, welding, assembly, hydrostatic and gas testing, material selection, certification, and traceability.
Skills / Competencies
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor and familiarity with engineering calculation or FEA tools.
  • Working knowledge of PLM, ERP/SAP, engineering change, and controlled‑document workflows.
  • Sound analytical, problem‑solving, technical‑writing, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills.

Ability to manage concurrent assignments, collaborate cross‑functionally, work independently within delegated authority, and support junior engineers when required.
