Job summary

ACWA Power is seeking an Electrical Technician to perform maintenance, installation, overhauling and modification activities on plant electrical equipment in accordance with procedures, HSE guidelines and quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of electrical maintenance experience and a technical certificate/associate diploma in electrical maintenance. You will work under the supervision of Electrical Engineers and Technicians to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Technical certificate / diploma in electrical maintenance (minimum qualification).
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance as a technician in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily electrical maintenance work and routine preventative maintenance per set schedule and ACWA NOMAC procedures.
• Monitor equipment condition and report non-conformances to Electrical Engineer/ Supervisor to ensure proper maintenance of facilities.
• Respond to electrical failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize equipment functionality.
• Troubleshoot faults using diagnosis, repair and testing techniques; locate faults in cables and connections.
• Diagnose causes of malfunction in transformers, motors, relays, switches and control systems; coordinate with Electrical Engineer/Supervisor.
• Read manuals and wiring diagrams to guide maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on equipment.
• Align, adjust and calibrate equipment; maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests.
• Update maintenance logbook with work details and conditions for traceability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and change projects.
• Adhere to Health, Safety, Security & Environment procedures and organizational policies.
• Perform any other duties as required by the line manager.

JOB PURPOSE

To carry out maintenance, installation, overhauling and modification activities on plant's electrical machinery and equipment in accordance with standard maintenance procedures, HSE guidelines and quality standards to attain effective functionality and reliability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Carry out required daily electrical maintenance work and routine preventative electrical maintenance work according to set schedule and ACWA NOMAC procedures to facilitate continuous operations.
• Monitor the physical condition of all equipment in assigned plant and report non-conformances to Electrical Engineer / Electrical Supervisor to facilitate effective maintenance of all ACWA NOMAC facilities as per set Quality/ HSE standards.
• Respond to electrical failures and implement corrective actions in adherence with procedures and guidelines to reduce downtime and maximize functionality of equipment.
• Troubleshoot using necessary tools which include diagnosis, repairing and testing circuit or wiring faults; locating faults in cables to validate that all connection points and cables are capable of withstanding capacity voltages.
• Diagnose causes of electrical malfunction or failure of operational equipment such as transformers, motors, relays, switches and control and monitoring devices and take corrective measures in collaboration with Electrical Engineer / Electrical Supervisor.
• Read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams etc., and apply the knowledge to carry out maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, to prepare for the electrical maintenance to equipment in the assigned area.
• Align, adjust and calibrate equipment according to specifications and to maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests.

Inventory

Check the necessary stock levels of spare parts to support effective inventory control.

Documentation

Update the maintenance logbook and record details of work carried out including defaults, problems, various findings and conditions of all equipment to ensure timely availability of information and organized referencing.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute in the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organization’s standards.

Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, standard maintenance procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.
