Job description

The Field Service Technician will support the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of subsea power cables, umbilical, and related termination equipment. This role requires strong technical aptitude, hands-on field experience in offshore environments, and familiarity with subsea systems’ mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic aspects.

This will be a "call-out" position, with a monthly salary and a day rate uplift while onsite (offshore/onshore). The average rotation is around 30 days, with 4-5 rotations to the Middle East per year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform onsite inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis of subsea cables and umbilical.
  • Assist in installation and commissioning activities, including termination and jointing operations.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment for cable deployment, splicing, and integrity testing (e.g., HV testing, OTDR, pressure testing).
  • Support offshore mobilizations, demobilizations, and ensure compliance with company safety and QA/QC standards.
  • Record and document maintenance reports, field data, and technical issues for analysis and client reporting.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment used in umbilical handling and subsea operations.
  • Liaise with engineering, logistics, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent technical field).
  • 5 or more years of experience in the subsea industry—particularly in cable and umbilical handling, terminations, or testing.
  • Proficiency with cable testing equipment, ROV interface tools, and subsea installation procedures.
  • Strong understanding of offshore safety and environmental practices.
  • Ability to work offshore for extended periods under challenging conditions.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with dynamic umbilicals and deep-water operations.
  • Familiarity with subsea connectors and hydraulic/electrical termination kits.
  • Strong troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and basic data acquisition systems.
