Job summary

Helmerich & Payne in Saudi Arabia seeks an experienced Driller/Assistant Driller to operate and monitor land drilling rigs and supervise floorhands and derrickhands. You will maintain well control equipment and optimize performance while ensuring safe operations.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years on land rigs, IWCF/IADC Well Control certification, and strong HSE knowledge, including experience in the Middle East.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• IWCF or IADC Well Control certification is required or preferred.
• 5–10 years of drilling rig experience with progressive responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor drilling equipment to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Supervise Floorhands, Derrickhands and Assistant Drillers on shifts.
• Maintain well control equipment and monitoring parameters.
• Conduct pre-tour briefings and safety meetings with rig crews.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and industry regulations.
• Coordinate with Toolpushers, Rig Managers and customer reps to meet objectives.
• Maintain accurate drilling reports and operational records.
• Assist in emergency response and well control events as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor drilling equipment to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations
• Supervise and direct Floorhands Derrickhands and Assistant Drillers during assigned shifts
• Ensure well control equipment is properly maintained and operational
• Monitor drilling parameters and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance
• Conduct pre-tour meetings and safety briefings with rig crews
• Ensure compliance with H amp P HSE policies procedures and industry regulations
• Identify and mitigate operational risks to prevent incidents and non-productive time
• Maintain accurate drilling reports tour sheets and operational records
• Coordinate with Toolpushers Rig Managers and customer representatives to achieve drilling objectives
• Assist in emergency response situations and well control events as required
• Ensure proper maintenance and housekeeping of the rig floor and drilling equipment

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5-10 years of drilling rig experience with progressive responsibility.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Driller or Driller on land drilling rigs.
• Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Certification.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, rig equipment, and well control principles.
• Ability to lead and supervise multicultural rig crews.
• Strong understanding of HSE standards and safe work practices.
• Preferred Experience operating AC electric or advanced land rigs.
• Knowledge of automated drilling systems and rig technology.
• Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
