Job description
Role Purpose

The Credit Control Manager is accountable for leading the organization’s credit control function, ensuring effective credit risk management, timely collections, optimized debtor days, and compliance with SGS financial policies. The role provides strategic oversight, drives continuous improvement, and ensures alignment with business and operational objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic
  1. Develop, implement, and continuously enhance SGS’s Credit Control strategy and credit risk framework.
  2. Ensure alignment of credit policies with business growth, customer segmentation, and risk appetite.
  3. Monitor credit exposure and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
  4. Contribute to financial planning, forecasting, and annual budgeting related to receivables and bad debt provisions.
  5. Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce DSO and improve cash flow.
Operational
  1. Oversee approval of credit limits, credit terms, and exceptions for customers.
  2. Ensure timely collection of receivables and effective management of aged debtors.
  3. Approve write-offs, provisions, and structured payment plans in line with authority matrix.
  4. Manage third-party debt collection agencies and legal follow-ups when required.
  5. Ensure accurate reporting of AR, aging analysis, and KPIs to senior management.
  6. Coordinate with Legal, Sales, Operations, and Finance to resolve complex credit issues.
  7. Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial policies.
People Management
  1. Lead, coach, and develop the Credit Control team to ensure high performance and accountability.
  2. Set team objectives, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  3. Identify training needs and support succession planning for key roles.
  4. Work closely with HR on workforce planning and capability development.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Master’s degree / MBA is an advantage
