Job summary

KBR Khobar Office seeks a senior constructability specialist to lead brownfield construction planning, ensuring constructability is embedded from design to handover. You will coordinate with engineering, procurement, and site teams to optimize sequencing, safety, and efficiency across projects.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree with 15+ years in brownfield projects and strong ability to review design drawings and EPC schedules for constructability, plus familiarity with Saudi codes.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 15 years in brownfield construction.
• Experience in construction planning from design drawings.
• Review EPC schedule for correct sequence/duration.
• Work with engineering team on constructability from design perspective.
• Provide input to Estimator for construction manhours and labor estimates.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Familiar with Saudi Arabia code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead project constructability program for all projects in the Khobar office.
• Drive engineering solutions promoting safe, quality-driven construction execution methods.
• Proactively run constructability workshops.
• Maintain constructability registers through all project phases.
• Identify drivers through commissioning, procurement and engineering for constructability support.
• Identify optimum construction sequencing in brownfield environments.
• Ensure heavy lift and logistics are included in constructability program.
• Identify off-site fabrication solutions to reduce site hours.
• Minimise shutdown time to operations in brownfield environments.
• Participate in site surveys to resolve constructability findings.
• Participate in safety inspections/audits of contractor fabrication/erection facilities.

Position objective and general responsibilities

As an integral member of a multi-discipline team, become fully aware of the site schedule, site activities and project goals. To establish and maintain a good working relationship and communication with other site team members, advise areas of concern in terms of constructability and take an active role in implementation and closure of constructability action items. Participate in resolution of design related issues and ensure construction considerations are implemented into the design. As a member of the KBR team, foster and maintain the team approach and to take an active role in the health, safety and welfare of all project personnel.

Main Tasks and Specific Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the KBR ZeroHarm safety program.
• Lead project constructability program for all projects in the Khobar office.
• Drive engineering solutions that promote safe, quality driven construction execution methods.
• Take a proactive role in running constructability workshops.
• Maintain project constructability registers through all project phases.
• Identify project drivers through commissioning, procurement and engineering that support project constructability programs.
• Identify optimum construction sequencing in brownfield environments to support tie-in or general construction work.
• Ensure heavy lift and logistics requirements for brownfield work activities are included within the constructability program.
• Identify construction solutions for maximising off-site fabrication for reducing site related hours.
• Identify construction solutions in brownfield environments that minimise shutdown time to operations.
• Participate in site surveys to identify resolutions for project constructability programs.
• Participate in safety inspections and audits of Contractor’s fabrication and erection facilities.

Qualifications and experience

• Mandatory Engineering degree in appropriate engineering subject or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 15 years' experience working in a brownfield construction background.
• Experience in Construction planning based on design drawings.
• Review of EPC schedule to ensure correct sequence and duration of construction activities.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Engineering team and review of design drawings from constructability point of view.
• Provide input to Estimator for Construction Manhours and review construction labor estimate.
• Good inter-personnel skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
• Good organizational skills.
• Intimate knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft computer programs.
• Desirable Previous construction engineering experience.
• Familiar with Saudi Arabia code requirements.
