The Coating Inspector (QM) is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and validating all coating and painting activities to ensure full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and Saudi Aramco requirements.

The role ensures proper surface preparation, material verification, coating application, curing, and final inspection of critical coating systems including epoxy, FBE, baked coatings, and other immersion-service coatings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant inspection experience (or 8 years with a 3-year diploma).
  • Strong knowledge of international coating standards and Saudi Aramco specs.
  • Saudi Aramco approved Coating Inspector or pass CBT exam & interview.
  • Must hold NACE Level II or SSPC Level II or British Grade 1/2.
  • Experience inspecting Epoxy, FBE, baked coatings and immersion-service systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect surface preparation, materials, application methods and curing.
  • Verify coatings meet project specs, standards and Saudi Aramco requirements.
  • Monitor critical coating systems (Epoxy, FBE, baked coatings, immersion-service).
  • Check environmental conditions before and during coating application.
  • Document findings, prepare reports, maintain coating records.
  • Identify non-conformities, issue NCRs, follow up on actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors and QA/QC teams for approvals.

Job Summary

The Coating Inspector (QM) is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and validating all coating and painting activities to ensure full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and Saudi Aramco requirements. The role ensures proper surface preparation, material verification, coating application, curing, and final inspection of critical coating systems including epoxy, FBE, baked coatings, and other immersion-service coatings.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Inspect and verify surface preparation, coating materials, application methods, and curing conditions.

  • Ensure coatings meet project specifications, industry standards, and Saudi Aramco requirements.

  • Monitor application of critical coating systems such as Epoxy, FBE, Baked Coatings, and immersion-service coatings.

  • Check environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, dew point) prior to and during coating application.

  • Conduct inspections using tools such as DFT gauges, holiday detectors, adhesion testers, etc.

  • Review coating procedures, method statements, and material data sheets for compliance.

  • Inspect blasting profiles, cleanliness levels, and ensure compliance with SSPC, NACE, and relevant standards.

  • Document inspection findings, prepare daily reports, and maintain coating records per project requirements.

  • Identify and report non-conformities, issue NCRs, and follow up on corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with contractors, QA/QC teams, and project personnel for coating-related activities and approvals.

Mandatory Requirements
  • B.E/B.Tech in Engineering with minimum 6 years of relevant inspection experience or 3-year Diploma with minimum 8 years of relevant inspection experience.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable international coating standards and Saudi Aramco Specifications & Standards.

  • Saudi Aramco–approved Coating Inspector OR must have passed the Saudi Aramco CBT Exam & Interview.

  • Must hold one of the following internationally recognized certifications:

  • NACE Level II – Critical Coatings Certification

  • SSPC Level II

  • British Grade 1/2 qualification

  • Proven experience in inspecting Epoxy, FBE, Baked, and immersion-service coating systems.

  • Required QMs - QM-11
