Overview

The Chief Database Geoscientist understands both database infrastructure / management as well as the exploration work flow. They adapt and customize procedures and the database structure in order to suit the needs of the exploration team. They are responsible for a team of database geoscientists who will support and maintain the integrity and quality of exploration data.

Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Extensive experience in Fusion, DataShed or Aquire.
• Geological database experience at a major mining company or a medium-tier company with an extensive project portfolio.
• Experience implementing a database system at a new site.
• Focus on error prevention rather than error correction.
• Detail oriented.
• Can readily recognize anomalous data.
• Ready to integrate exploration principles with data management.
• Knowledge in Python and any big data analytical tools will be an added advantage.
• Skill in a Business Intelligence visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau) will be an added advantage.
