GENERAL ROLE

• As Challenge Course Instructor at Miraval The Red Sea, your main role is responsible for facilitating and instructing a variety of high and low ropes challenge course activities, including team-building exercises, climbing walls, and other adventure-based programs.
• This role integrates physical challenges with mindfulness, promoting personal growth, teamwork, and mental resilience.
• The instructor will ensure guest safety and engagement while creating a dynamic and supportive environment for both individual and group experiences.
• The position will actively contribute to the development of new challenge-based programs and work with the wider fitness and recreation team to create holistic, transformative experiences for guests.

Challenge Course Facilitation & Guest Engagement

• Lead high and low ropes challenge course activities, including climbing walls, team-building exercises, obstacle courses, and other adventure-based experiences.
• Guide guests through mindful movement, incorporating team-building strategies, problem-solving, and mental resilience.
• Ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment, catering to varying fitness levels and abilities while fostering a positive and empowering experience.
• Provide clear instruction and guidance on safety, equipment use, and movement techniques, ensuring a high-quality experience for guests.
• Develop creative team-building exercises that encourage collaboration, communication, and trust-building among participants.
• Encourage personal transformation by integrating mindfulness techniques during activities to enhance guest mental and emotional well-being.

Program Development & Innovation

• Collaborate with the Fitness & Recreation Manager to design and implement new challenge course programs, ensuring they meet the needs of diverse guest demographics.
• Stay informed on emerging challenge course trends and team-building strategies, adapting programs to ensure they are innovative and aligned with Miraval’s wellness philosophy.
• Develop themed challenge experiences for guests, such as sunrise team-building challenges, mindful problem-solving sessions, and wellness-focused adventure retreats.
• Assess guest progress during challenge activities, offering feedback and adjusting programs based on individual or group needs.

Safety & Operational Excellence

• Conduct thorough pre-activity safety briefings and ensure all guests are equipped with appropriate gear.
• Oversee the setup and maintenance of challenge course equipment, ensuring it is safe and in excellent condition.
• Adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures, maintaining guest safety throughout all challenge activities and comply with Saudi Government Rules and Regulations.
• Ensure that all challenge course areas are well-maintained, organized, and comply with safety standards and regulations.

Guest Relations & Team Collaboration

• Foster strong guest relationships by providing personalized support and maintaining a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Work closely with other fitness, wellness, and recreation teams to ensure seamless integration of challenge course activities with broader resort programs.
• Actively contribute to guest engagement by offering personalized experiences that align with their fitness, wellness, and team-building goals.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior instructors, sharing best practices in challenge course facilitation and safety management.

Marketing & Engagement

• Collaborate with the marketing team to promote challenge course offerings through articles, blog posts, and promotional materials.
• Represent Miraval’s challenge course programs at external wellness events and industry fairs to expand awareness of the resort’s offerings.
• Collect guest feedback to continuously improve and refine challenge course programs, ensuring they meet guest expectations and resort standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience leading challenge course activities, such as ropes courses, climbing walls, obstacle courses, or team-building exercises.
• Certification in high/low ropes course facilitation or Certified Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent accreditation) or outdoor adventure instruction preferred.
• Strong understanding of team-building strategies and personal growth techniques through challenge-based activities.
• Proficiency in climbing techniques, comfortable working at heights.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in facilitating outdoor adventure or challenge course programs in a luxury resort or wellness setting.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in English (knowledge of Arabic is a plus).
• Ability to manage group dynamics, provide motivational leadership, and foster collaborative environments.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire guests through challenge-based experiences, ensuring a mindful and transformative journey during each activity.
• Strong leadership abilities to guide groups, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and positive group dynamics, while encouraging guests to embrace personal growth and mindfulness.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in ensuring smooth execution of programs, maintaining guest safety, and incorporating mindfulness into every experience.
• Adaptability and flexibility to modify activities based on guest needs, environmental conditions, and ensuring that mindfulness techniques are integrated into the outdoor experience.
• Physical stamina to lead activities such as climbing, hiking, and outdoor adventure programs, ensuring the focus remains on holistic well-being and personal transformation.
• Proficiency in digital tools for scheduling, guest tracking, and communication, while integrating mindfulness practices into all program management.
