Job summary

Acwa Operations in Saudi Arabia requires a Shift Operator to monitor and control unit/plant operating parameters and coordinate with other operators to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. You will follow PTW procedures, maintain logs, and support shift handovers while reporting deviations and near-misses to uphold the HSE standards.

The role involves familiarization with P&IDs, SOPs, and control logic, along with performing routine tests, equipment isolation, and safe waste handling.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and be familiar with firefighting equipment.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, EOPs, and related documents.
• Monitor unit parameters and record readings on log sheets; summarize shift activities in the logbook.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and coordinate with other operators.
• Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal conditions.
• Coordinate Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) during maintenance per PTW; normalize equipment after cancellation.
• Inspect unit and auxiliaries to keep parameters within limits; report abnormalities.
• Perform protection tests and equipment changeovers per schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications and follow up on repairs.
• Assist in training new operators.

Reporting To: Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer

Job Summary

Monitor and control unit/plant operating parameters and coordinate with other operators regarding all related activities that affect plant operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
2. Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, emergency operating procedures, and other related documents.
3. Monitor all unit parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets. Summarize all activities and events that occur during the shift in the logbook.
4. Follow the instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other operators regarding all operational activities.
5. Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal operating conditions.
6. Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) during equipment isolation for maintenance in accordance with the approved Permit to Work (PTW) procedure. Normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
7. Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters remain within acceptable limits. Report any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer.
8. Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of the Shift Charge Engineer / Supervisor and maintain the required records. Perform equipment changeovers according to established schedules.
9. Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
10. Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
11. Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
12. Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
13. Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Minimum Experience

Minimum

• 5 years of experience in the same position.
