Baxter International Inc. is seeking a Business Development Lead to drive growth across the Gulf region and Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of proven business development experience within healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or related sectors.

Summary

The Business Development Lead will drive business growth across the Gulf region and Saudi Arabia by identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic business plans, and adapting to evolving healthcare market dynamics and regulations. The role is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders, while working cross-functionally to execute commercial initiatives and deliver sustainable business results. Additionally, the individual will monitor market trends and performance metrics, develop compelling business proposals, and ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements, including the timely reporting of adverse events and product safety information.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Identifying New Business Opportunities and models
  • Business development professionals research and analyze market trends, competitors, and potential clients to uncover growth opportunities. This includes evaluating protecting current markets where market dynamics are changing and new regulations are being introduced such local manufacturing, economic participation, changing go-to-market approach…etc.
Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Developing and implement business strategies that align with long-term company goals. This involves setting targets, defining KPIs, conducting SWOT and competitor analyses, and coordinating with marketing, sales, and product teams to ensure alignment.
Relationship Building and Networking
  • Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and establishing new partnerships is critical. This includes networking at industry events, attending conferences, and leveraging professional connections to expand the company’s reach.
Market Research and Analysis
  • Continuous monitoring of industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities (i.e. LinkedIn) allows BDLs to adapt strategies and identify gaps in the market. Insights from research inform product development, marketing campaigns, and sales approaches.
Proposal Development and Presentation
  • Creating compelling proposals, presentations, and value propositions is essential to attract clients and partners. BDLs tailor messaging to address client needs and differentiate the company from competitors.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Business development roles require coordination with internal teams such as marketing, sales, finance, and product development to ensure cohesive execution of strategies and alignment with organizational objectives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Tracking progress against goals, analyzing KPIs, and reporting results to leadership helps refine strategies and maintain accountability. This includes financial oversight and budget management for business development initiatives.
Pharmacovigilance & Adverse Event (AE) Reporting (Critical Responsibility)
  • Identification, collection and reporting of any safety information, including adverse events to any Baxter product.
  • Ensuring reporting within one (1) business day to PV department.
  • Collecting of minimum information (patient information, reporter information, product information like name, batch/lot numbers, route and date of administration, event information).
  • Educate customers on importance of safety reporting and vigilance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Healthcare Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 7-10+ years of proven business development experience within the healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or broader medical sector.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying growth opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving business expansion.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
