Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Hospital’s radiation safety program.
  2. Conducts periodically an inventory and leak test of all sealed radioactive sources.
  3. Performs radiation protection surveys and radiation contamination measurements.
  4. Ensures the proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials as per the Hospital’s policies and procedures.
  5. Maintains the internal authorization system, keeps proper records and checks compliance with regulations of all pre‑authorized purchases, transfers, or shipments of radioactive materials.
  6. Performs radiation inspections of packages and collects radioactive wastes. Maintains documents and classifications for material transportations, storage and disposal.
  7. Coordinates with the primary RSO and other members of RSO to maintain and periodically inspect all tools and equipment related to the RSO including but not limited to detectors and survey meters.
  8. Responds to radiation safety calls in cases of incidents or unintended exposures.
  9. Uses appropriate decontamination kits in cases of radioactive spills.
  10. Assists in security assessment and implements corrective actions.
  11. Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
  12. Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education

Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical/Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or another related discipline is required.

Experience Required

Four (4) years of related experience with a Master’s or six (6) years with a Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Other Requirements/ Certifications
  • Radiation Safety Officer certified by the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission, and classified by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in a related discipline is required.
  • Radiation Protection Training is required.
