Job summary

KAUST invites a Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Scientist in Polymer Rheology and Processing to join our dynamic group. The successful candidate will lead high-impact projects at the interface of fundamental polymer physics and industrially relevant processing.

The role emphasizes understanding structure–rheology–processability relationships, especially interfacial phenomena and multilayer architectures, with applications in extrusion, co-extrusion, and compounding.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • Expertise in polymer rheology and viscoelasticity (experimental and/or computational).
  • Hands-on experience in polymer processing technologies (extrusion, compounding, or fiber spinning).
  • Ability to connect molecular structure to rheological behavior and to processing outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cutting-edge research in polymer rheology and processing science.
  • Design and execute experiments on bulk and interfacial rheology, nonlinear viscoelasticity, extrusion-related dynamics.
  • Develop insights into interfacial stability, flow instabilities, and morphology control in multiphase systems.
  • Support and optimize advanced polymer processing, including preform fabrication, fiber drawing, and high-shear compounding.
  • Publish high-impact research and deliver technical reports to industrial stakeholders.
